Hoosier Headlines

🛣️ The full stretch of I-69 is set to open - after 16 long years of construction. The “I-69 Finish Line” is the 6th & final section of the newest interstate, and now fully connects Indianapolis to Evansville. Since beginning construction in 2008, the project has included 39 new bridges, 14 new overpasses/underpasses, & enough dirt & stone excavated to fill Bankers Life Fieldhouse more than 20 times. That’s a lot of dirt.

🐖🐄 The Indiana State Fair is in full swing, after starting last Friday. Our fairgrounds cover a whopping 1,000,000 square feet & hosted over 800,000 people last year. If you’ve never been, give it a shot! (Bring your walking shoes.) This week’s events include Buddy Guy, Fearless: The Taylor Swift Tribute, & a live cheese carving 😱🧀

🎰 Electronic charity gaming coming near you? Indiana veterans organizations want to be able to offer an electronic gaming option at their posts. You’ve probably played these paper “pull tabs” games at your local bar. Veterans organizations use money earned from charity gaming to donate to causes around Indiana. A new alliance, PlayIN For Charity, is urging lawmakers to revise the state’s charity gaming laws.
