First Session in New Indiana Statehouse (1887)
Now the home of the Indiana General Assembly, the governorās office, and the Indiana Supreme Court, the current Indiana Statehouse (the fourth statehouse in our stateās history) opened its first session of congress in 1887.
The current statehouse is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis and is designed in the shape of a cross. The first floor houses the committee rooms for the Indiana House and Senate. The second floor houses the governorās office, and the third floor has offices of the House of Representatives on one side and the Senate on the other. The third floor also holds the House, Senate, and Supreme Court chambers.
As you can tell, the statehouse was designed to hold all of the branches of government in one building, making Indiana one of the only states that has this setup. Outside the building is a statue of Oliver Morton, who was Indianaās governor during the Civil War.

Peach Bowl Preview: Hoosiers vs. Ducks, Part II
One more sleep until the undefeated and No. 1-ranked Indiana Hoosiers (14-0) take on the No. 5 Oregon Ducks (13-1) in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Peach Bowl. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The Hoosiers are responsible for the lone blemish on the Ducksā record. Indiana went into Autzen Stadium on Oct. 11 against the then-No. 3 team in the nation and left with a 30-20 victory. That outcome was the turning point for many non-believers in the Hoosiers and coach Curt Cignetti⦠this Indiana team is for real.
IU flexed in the Rose Bowl against SEC power Alabama, obliterating the No. 9 Crimson Tide 38-3. Oregon showed itās playing its best football of the season, too, wiping away Big 12 champion and No. 4 seed Texas Tech 23-0 in the Orange Bowl.
The winner advances to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Jan. 19 to take on the winner of No. 6 Ole Miss and No. 10 Miami.

She was selected from a field of 83 contestants.
This summer, Hampton will travel an estimated 10,000 miles (!!) to visit dozens of county fairs across Indiana. And we thought 3,000 miles on our journey of visiting 1,000 towns in Indiana was a lotā¦
