🖐️ Five October Events to Experience in IN 🖐️

Sunday-Saturday, Oct. 5-11: West Side Nut Club Fall Festival
📍Evansville

We begin with the best fall festival in the United States. Seriously, the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival was voted as the No. 1 fall festival in the country in the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. Fun fact: It started as a Halloween festival way back in 1921.

The festival unofficially kicks off with the kiddie midway open for families from 1-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5. It continues through Saturday, Oct. 11, attracting more than 200,000 people, and includes carnival rides, a tug-of-war competition, queen and king contest, pet parade, lighthouse parade, main parade, live music, a whopping 137 food booths and more.

We’ll be there to experience it ourselves. You should check it out, too.

Friday-Sunday, Oct. 10-19: Parke County Covered Bridge Festival
📍Parke County

The 10-day Parke County Covered Bridge Festival from Oct. 10-19 showcases the county’s 31 covered bridges, more than any other county in the United States.

The festival is headquartered in the county seat of Rockville, but there are eight additional communities participating, including Tangier, Bloomingdale, Montezuma, Billie Creek, Mecca, Bridgeton, Rosedale and Mansfield. Enjoy food, arts and crafts vendors at every stop, plus the beautiful fall foliage between destinations.

Saturday, Oct. 11: Barktoberfest
📍Asa Bales Park in Westfield

Grab your tickets now for Barktoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Asa Bales Park in Westfield. This pup-friendly festival will be packed with fun: dog costume contests, agility courses, live music, local vendors, and plenty of treats for both pets and people. It’s your chance to show off your dog’s personality, connect with fellow animal lovers, and celebrate fall in the best way possible — with your four-legged friend by your side.

🎟 Tickets are on sale now. Get all the details at westfieldin.gov/barktoberfest.

Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 11-12: Feast of the Hunters’ Moon
📍Fort Ouiatenon in West Lafayette

This historical reenactment festival on Oct. 11-12 celebrates French and Native American interaction in 18th century Indiana at Fort Ouiatenon on the banks of the Wabash River just west of West Lafayette. Fort Ouiatenon was the first fortified European outpost. This is the 58th edition of the festival.

Attendees can enjoy authentic food, plus hands-on activities like candle-dipping, cross-cut sawing, axe throwing and more.

Saturday-Saturday, Oct. 18-25: Historic Irvington Halloween Festival
📍Indianapolis

The 79th Annual Historic Irvington Halloween Festival runs from Oct. 18-25, finishing with a street fair that is full of spooky fun, delicious treats and thrilling entertainment.

Festival highlights include fall-themed contests, the Halloween Ball, spooky organ concert, horror shorts movie night, family movie night, zombie bike ride, vampire run and more. The full list of events can be found here.
