THE HISTORY OF CLARK COUNTY AND SELLERSBURG

Clark County was founded in 1801 and was developed in large part because of its southeast border being the Ohio River and railroads. Sellersburg was founded 45 years later, although it was spelled with an ‘h’ on the end of it for decades. With or without the consonant, Sellersburg has been thriving for almost 180 years. 🛤

FEELIN’ FUZZY

The Covered Bridge Golf Club is rated as the No. 17 public course in Indiana according to GolfPass. It was founded in 1994 by local PGA golfer Fuzzy Zoeller who graduated from nearby New Albany High School, won the 1979 Masters — his first time playing in the historic event — and also claimed the 1984 U.S. Open after an 18-hole playoff against Greg Norman. Fuzzy knows his golf, and his 18-hole public course isn’t just par for the course… with over 300 Google reviews coming in at 4.5 stars, that’s a birdie on our scorecard. 🏌

WE KNOW WHERE WE’RE CHILLIN’

Chillers Ice Cream is a staple in southern Indiana. Shakes, sundaes, and its patented Vortex? Yes, yes and yes. They’ve sold over 1 million gallons of ice cream and satisfy locals and travelers in Sellersburg, Clarksville, New Albany and Scottsburg. 🍦

THE SELLERSBURGER

The Fireside Bar & Grill is known for its Sellersburger, a bison burger topped with sautéed onions, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing on grilled rye bread. You’re not not going to have a burger named after the town, and you’re certainly not not going to order it if you find yourself at Fireside. 🍔

THE CHICKEN HOUSE

Chicken coop? How about The Chicken House? Its chicken and mushroom quesadilla meal is famous, and the BBQ chicken is second to none in these parts. If you don’t believe us, just scour the over 1,300 Google reviews that say The Chicken House is thee place to eat. 🐔

SILVER CREEK HIGH SCHOOL ON THE RISE

Silver Creek High School is in the midst of a major renovation and expansion that will make the public school a state-of-the-art high school in Indiana. Originally built in the 1960s, the expansion will increase the school’s student capacity from 550 to 1,200. The project — estimated to cost nearly $100 million — includes relocation and upgrades to the football, baseball, and softball fields, an addition of a second story to the existing school, new auditorium, student union, and common spaces for students to collaborate, communicate, and learn. 📚
